Euridice
The mystery and poetry of painting. The art that inhabits the space.
The distinctive features of the "Euridice" collection, in their apparent simplicity, embrace an extraordinary complexity of references derived from the history of painting. The poetics of this series of elegant ceramic coverings do not aim to reveal a specific, absolute truth, but rather propose a sublime use of porcelain stoneware that, akin to a raw canvas, defines a work that remains both partial and infinite.
"Once, art was given the task of transferring from the inanimate world to the animated world that object which was the art object. Today, conscious that the whole world is animated, the problem is rather to give the artist the task of interacting with the intelligence of the material." - Giorgio Griffa
CRITICAL TEXT BY ANDREA BELLINI:"GIORGIO GRIFFA: I DON'T PORTRAY ANYTHING, I PAINT".
Born in Turin in 1936, Giorgio Griffa is now ranked as one of Italy's most important abstract painters of the Twentieth Century. He began to paint when he was very young, just 10 years old, and for two decades his work was figurative, fairly traditional in subjects and style.
