Lapis

Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni

A small solid structure that plays with the visual perception of those who admire it, taking on a different presence with each glance.

In 1968, Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni were commissioned by CEDIT to design ceramic objects to be produced on a small scale, with the additional specification that "the maximum size of each piece should be within the range of 25-30 cm, both in height and width."

Decades after the creation of this wonderful design insight, CEDIT has decided to celebrate its partnership with the ingenuity of the Castiglioni brothers by offering a meticulous re-edition of Lapis in the three original formats and with an updated color palette, strongly inspired by that of the era.

The original colors of the 1968 editions—gray, brown, and red, all with dark tones—were named "Fumo," "Castoro," and "Ciliegia"; the current color interpretations—gray, blue, and red—are respectively named "Fumo," "Notte," and "Ciliegia."

Achille Castiglioni (Milan, February 16, 1918 - Milan, December 2, 2002) and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni (Milan, April 22, 1913 - Milan, November 27, 1968): among the most well-known and influential designers of their time, they signed some of the most recognized and celebrated design products of all time during their remarkable careers.
